A Note from Our Founder

Tempest Ruth was born from legacy, intention, and a lifelong love for beauty.

The name honors my grandmother, Lathan “Baby Ruth” Langley, the first person to truly recognize my curiosity and passion for hair and beauty when I was just eleven years old. As a licensed cosmetologist, she welcomed that curiosity and nurtured it with care and discipline. She taught me the fundamentals that still guide my work today: how to properly shampoo and condition natural hair, how to care for the scalp and skin beneath protective styles, and most importantly, how beauty should always begin with healthy foundations.

Beyond beauty, my grandmother carried a powerful entrepreneurial spirit. She believed deeply in education, independence, and the importance of building generational wealth. Those values shaped the way I approach my work and the way I envision the future of this brand.

Although she is no longer here with me physically, her influence continues to guide every step of this journey. I was fortunate enough to show her my first salon suite and share the growth of my work over the years, moments that I carry with me as both gratitude and motivation. Creating Tempest Ruth is one of the ways I continue to honor her name and the example she set.

Tempest represents the modern woman who embraces glamour as a natural part of her everyday life, confident, expressive, and unapologetic in her beauty.

Ruth represents the foundation behind that glamour, the strength, resilience, and hardworking spirit that lives within every woman.

Together, Tempest Ruth is a celebration of both beauty and substance. It represents the harmony between elegance and strength, style and discipline, legacy and modern womanhood.
